Family
Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF)
Description: Founded in 1980, the Family Violence Prevention Fund
(FVPF) is the country's leading nonprofit institution dedicated
to preventing and reducing domestic violence, having been in the
forefront of the domestic violence field since its inception. The
organization has piloted institutional change efforts, created public
awareness campaigns, and developed public policy initiatives in
the arenas of public health, child welfare, the law, public education,
immigration, international settings, and the workplace.
National Coalition
Against Domestic Violence
Description: NCADV is dedicated to the empowerment of battered women
and their children and therefore is committed to the elimination
of personal and societal violence in the lives of battered women
and their children. NCADV recognizes that the abuses of power in
society foster battering by perpetuating conditions which condone
violence against women and children. Therefore, it is the mission
of NCADV to work for major societal changes necessary to eliminate
both personal and societal violence against all women and children.
National Domestic
Violence Hotline
Description: Provides crisis intervention, information about domestic
violence and referrals to local service providers to victims of
domestic violence and those calling on their behalf. There are highly
qualified and trained Hotline Advocates to answer every call assistance
in both English and Spanish with access to translators in 139 languages.
National Network
to End Domestic Violence
Description: The National Network to End Domestic Violence is a
membership and advocacy organization of state domestic violence
coalitions, allied organizations and supportive individuals. Today,
the NNEDV is the leading voice among domestic violence advocates
in public policy.
Rape Abuse and Incest
National Network (RAINN)
Description: The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's
largest anti-sexual assault organization and operates the National
Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE. Comprised of more than
1,000 local affiliates, the hotline has helped more than half a
million victims of sexual assault since 1994.
