Every year, SAHELI partners with SafePlace
to bring members of the community together to raise money to help families
affected by abuse. The annual Walk honors the memories of those we have
lost to violence and celebrates those living violence-free lives. The Walk
draws thousands of walkers every April.
2008 is an extremely special year for the event. SAHELI is celebrating 16
years of providing critical services to the Asian community and SafePlace
is celebrating the Walk's 21st Anniversary. The Walk is the largest of its
kind in Central Texas and also the biggest fundraiser for our programs.
Teams comprised of co-workers, families, congregations, community organizations
and individual walkers arrive year after year, helping us get one step closer
to ending violence in our community.
